Interviews with Allan Shivers concerning his experiences in the Texas Senate (1934-1945); his race for lieutenant governor (1946); the death of Governor Jester (1949) and his succession to the governorship; and his terms as governor (1949-1957). The interviews also concern his observations of the gubernatorial terms of James Allred and W. Lee O'Daniel.
